Welcome

Welcome to Suncrest Elementary school!! We’re glad to have you as part of our family!

Mrs. Becker's Background: I am happy to lead Suncrest Elementary. This is my fourth year at Suncrest. I received my BS degree in elementary education, learning disabilities, and emotional disorders from Butler University in 1979. I then received my masters degree in special education from Indiana University in 1985. Finally, I received a second masters degree in administration and supervision from Indiana University in 1991. I taught elementary LD and MIMH classes for 7 years. After that I had a combination of grades 3, 4, 5, and 6 within three Indiana school corporations. I was an assistant principal for 4 years in a north Indianapolis township and then came to Frankfort in 1995 as principal of Riley Elementary. I came to Suncrest in fall of 2005 and have been enjoying your kids and our programs tremendously! I’m proud to be part of our dedicated and compassionate staff. They have a vested interest in helping Suncrest kids achieve and succeed!

Mrs. Franklin's Background: I have not always been an educator. I was a school law paralegal before becoming an educator in 1993. I received my degree in Elementary Education in May of 1993 and got my first teaching job right out of college teaching 6th grade in Westfield for five years. I taught 8th grade Science for seven years in Pike Township of Indianapolis. I got my Master's Degree in 1998 and my Principal's license in 2004. I started working at Suncrest as the Assistant Principal in 2005. I absolutely love the elementary level and truly enjoy working with the kids and teachers. They mean a lot to me and are my second family!

School History

Suncrest Elementary School opened for summer school in June 1996. It combined students from Lincoln Elementary and Woodside Elementary, which were closed, and some students from South Side Elementary through a school corporation redistricting program.

The front hallway displays the Woodside cornerstone and the Lincoln eagle. The facility is beautiful and includes many state-of-the art components, including: a fiber-optic computer network, four or more student computers in each classroom, a multi-media teacher computer station connected to a 31-inch video monitor, air-conditioning, small-group instruction areas in each wing, a well-supplied and automated media center, a 28-station computer lab, and well-designed specialty areas for art, music, and physical education. Each classroom is equipped with a telephone, and parent/teacher communication is enhanced with a voice-mail system. Two carts of 25 laptop computers are available for student use.
